Cathy Walls smiling at the camera, shoulder-length wavy brown hair with sun-lightened ends, in a rust-orange camisole. Behind her hangs one of her own paintings — a tall abstract in slate grey and deep teal, streaked and dripped like weathered metal, with a burst of gold leaf at the upper left.

About the artist

Cathy Walls

Hi, I’m Cathy Walls.

Painting has become the language I turn to when words aren’t enough. My work begins with emotion—sometimes clear, sometimes complicated—and grows through layers of color, texture, and detail until it becomes something I can finally understand. In sharing that work, I hope it creates space for others to find their own meaning, too.

Every piece I create is original and made by hand and I am drawn to creating pieces that are intense, mesmerizing, and beautiful. Whether I’m painting on canvas or transforming an entire wall, I love the challenge of building intricate details that invite people to stop, look closer, and discover something new each time they return.

Welcome to These Painted Walls—a place where colors carry emotion, details tell stories, and every painting begins a conversation.

Colors are what feelings look like.

When I am not painting, you’ll find me at a soccer field watching my three boys playing, treating patients as a physical therapist and spending as much time as I can with my husband of 18 years, Nick.
