The artist
Cathy Walls
Painting has become the language I turn to when words aren't enough. My work begins with emotion—sometimes clear, sometimes complicated—and grows through layers of color, texture, and detail until it becomes something I can finally understand. In sharing that work, I hope it creates space for others to find their own meaning, too.
Murals
Commissioning a mural
A wall is the one canvas people walk past every day. Cathy paints murals for homes and businesses — by hand, on site, built in layers the way her canvases are.
One
Tell her about the wall
The room, roughly how big it is, and what you want people to feel standing in front of it. A few photos are enough to start.
Two
Work out the design
Cathy comes back with an idea for the space, and you shape it together before anything goes on the wall.
Three
She paints it
On site, by hand, in layers — with the same intricate detail she builds into a canvas.
